The method involves detecting signal/interference ratio of a user equipment, and delivering detected signal/interference ratio to a regulating unit (31). A control unit (30) influences the regulating unit such that produced control variables i.e. transmit power control (TPC) variables, of the user equipment are produced to increase transmission power till to maximum transmission power. Manipulated control variables are used to induce the user equipment to increase the transmission power till to maximum transmission power. The regulating unit is operated within a bit transmission layer. An independent claim is also included for a base station for targeted change of the standard conformal transmission power for detection of the user equipment.
