The appliance has a circulation system (26) which processes a fluid. A conveyor (141) generates a directional flow of the process medium. A steam generator (137) is arranged in the circulation system, and contact surfaces (143) are coated with catalyst material. A vent opening processes fluid back to the conveyor. The output portion (138,140) of the steam generator opens in the flow direction between the discharge opening (125) of the work space and the contact areas (142) in the circulation system. An independent claim is included for method for cleaning domestic appliance.
