344,486. Knitting-machines. HEMP HILL CO., Central Falls, Rhode Island, U.S.A.-(Assignees of Lawson, R. H.; Pawtucket, Rhode Island, U.S.A.) Nov. 30, 1929, No. 36765. Convention dat Tuly 29. [Class 74 (ii).] Reverse plated and other patterned fabrics are made by raising selected sinkers 15, or jacks 14 associated therewith, so that they are engaged by a cam 52 and are moved inwards earlier than for normal plating. The sinkers 15 may be provided with pattern butts 48, preferably twelve, for actuation by slides 44 controlled by projections 33 upon discs 32 arranged to form a pattern drum, or alternatively the jacks 14 may be provided with the pattern butts 48, and each jack may have a shoulder 50a so disposed as to engage the rear of the sinker 15 when the jack has been moved inwardly by the cam 52. The cam 52 is bevelled to allow unselected sinkers or jacks to pass beneath it, and the jacks preferably operate in the same grooves as the sinkers. Means are provided for throwing the pattern means out of operation, e.g. in heel and toe work, and for holding the pattern means from movement while out of operative position. Specifications 20101/09, [Class 74, Lace-making &c.], and 256,612, [Class 74 (ii), Knitting &c.], are referred to. |
