This is a video frame rate converter that uses a new method to combine the interpolation and synchronization techniques. The input frames are fed into a read frame block 2, which is controlled by an output phase accumulator block 1, which also inputs to the anchor frame detector 4. The input video sequence is divided into successive groups of N consecutive frames, and the motion over the frames of each group is analysed to provide a group motion measure. The system then chooses between the motion compensated interpolator 8 or the synchronising converter 9. When the interpolation mode is selected, it performs interpolation on the group to provide M output frames. When the synchronization mode is selected it identifies from the group frames that are to be deleted or repeated to provide M output frames. The groups of frames are then assembled to form an output video sequence that has an output frame rate that is different from the input frame rate.
|
