405,843. Revaporizing liquefied gases. LINDE AIR PRODUCTS CO., 30, East 42nd Street, New York, U.S.A.-(Assignees of Updegraff, L. C. ; 100, West 58th Street, New York, U.S.A.) April 24, 1933, No. 11970. Convention date, July 26, 1932. [Class 8 (ii).] A storage container for liquefied gas is automatically adapted to discharge the gas in the gaseous state when the pressure in the container exceeds a desired working pressure and to discharge the gas in the liquid state through a vaporizer at lower pressures. At low pressures liquid is discharged through a conduit 16, Fig. 1, to heating means 17, the heated fluid passing back through a coil 18 in the container to raise the pressure therein. The gas then passes to a re-heater 19 and a reducing valve 21 which delivers the gas at a constant pressure to the consumers pipe line 23. At higher pressures, gas is delivered through a conduit 24, a back-pressure valve 25 which prevents gas passing below a set pressure and a reducing valve 27 to a conduit 28 leading to the consumers pipe line. The discharge pressure from the valve 27 is high enough to lock the valve 21. A gas storage chamber 29 and a safety valve 31 are provided. In a modification, the reducing valve 27 is omitted, a single reducing valve being set in the consumers pipe line, and the coil 18 heats liquid in a pocket in the insulating mass, communicating with the storage container by liquid and gas conduits.
|
