FIELD: chemistry.SUBSTANCE: invention relates to a method for catalytic production of polyether polyols, wherein the starting reagents used are glycerine and/or saccharose, the alkylene oxide used is propylene oxide, ethylene oxide, butylene oxide, isobutylene oxide, styrene oxide or mixtures thereof, the catalysts used are tertiary amines and/or alkali- or alkali-earth metal hydroxides and/or a catalyst selected from a group comprising multi-metal cyanide catalysts; conversion of the starting substance with alkylene oxides is carried out at pressure in the range of 0.1 to 1.0 MPa and temperature in the range of 80 to 140°C. The power consumed by at least one mixer or at least one mixer and a pump per reactor volume ranges from 1 to 4 kW/mor from 1.002 to 4.5 kW/m, wherein at least one swirler element is used, and wherein (i) a pump is not used, and the power consumed by at least one mixer per reactor volume ranges from 1 to 4 kW/m, preferably from 1.2 to 3.5 kW/m, or (ii) the total power consumed by at least one mixer and at least one pump per reactor volume ranges from 1.002 to 4.5 kW/m, preferably from 1.203 to 3.75 kW/m, wherein if a mixer is used, the specific power consumption P per reactor volume is calculated using the formula P=Ne*n*d*?, where Ne is a Newton coefficient, n is the rotary speed of the mixer in rpm, d is the diameter of the mixer and ? is the density of reactor contents, and if a pump is used, the specific power consumption P per reactor volume is calculated using the formula P=?p*?, where ?p is the pressure drop (in Pa) between the pump outlet and the reactor inlet and ? is flow rate (in m/s).
