A photographing method and apparatus is provided. The photographing apparatus includes a photographing unit; a sensing unit for sensing motion of the photographing apparatus; a display unit for displaying at least one guide image for panorama photographing; a controller for controlling the photographing unit to automatically photograph, if a photographing direction that changes in accordance with motion of the photographing apparatus corresponds to one of the at least one guide image; and a storage unit for storing the photographed image data.

1. A portable photographing device, the device comprising:
an image sensor; a motion sensor; a touch display; and a processor configured to:
obtain a first image for a panoramic image,control the touch display to present a screen including a first visual element which moves in accordance with movement of the device detected by the motion sensor and a second visual element which remains at a defined position of the touch display during the movement of the device detected by the motion sensor, the first visual element starting to be presented on the touch display in response to obtaining the first image and being continuously presented on the touch display as the first visual element approaches the second visual element in accordance with the movement of the device detected by the motion sensor, andobtain a second image for the panoramic image when the first visual element substantially overlaps the second visual element.
