1. A kit comprising:
an apparatus for protecting vascular structures during a re-entry surgery to a site of a patient's spinal column at which corrective surgery has previously taken place, the spinal column including a first vertebral body and a second vertebral body wherein the first and second vertebral bodies are adjacent to one another, the apparatus comprising: a pliable body having a width and a length between first and second ends, the first end being attachable to at least one of the adjacent vertebral bodies and the second end being attachable to the other of the adjacent vertebral bodies, wherein each of the first and second ends comprise only a single point of attachment to the vertebral body by only a single fixation means, wherein the single fixation means is selected from the group consisting of a tack, a staple, a suture, and an adhesive, wherein the pliable body is pre-cut, formed for a particular application, and has one or more predetermined fold lines marked thereon suggesting to a surgeon where to fold the pliable body.
