Semiconductor apparatuses having optical connections between a memory controller and a memory module are provided. A semiconductor apparatus includes a memory controller, at least one socket configured to receive a memory module, and a first optical-electrical module. A second optical-electrical module is mounted in the socket and optically coupled to the first optical-electrical module via at least one optical channel.

1. A semiconductor apparatus comprising:
a memory controller; at least one socket configured to be connected to a memory module, the socket having an H shape, the H shape defining a top area and a bottom area; a first optical-electrical module connected to the memory controller; a second optical-electrical module mounted in the bottom area of the socket, the second optical-electrical module being optically coupled to the first optical-electrical module via a plurality of optical channels; and a plurality of optical power distributors arranged between the memory controller and the at least one socket, wherein a number of the optical power distributors are equal to a number of the optical channels, and signals distributed by one of the plurality of optical power distributors are individually transmitted to each one of the at least one socket.
