1. A process of detecting Salmonella in a sample comprising:
performing a first stage assay by adding to a first portion of said sample one or more first stage O-group-1 (O-grp-1) primer sets operable to produce an O-grp-1 amplification product of O-grp-1 target sequence; adding to a second portion of said sample one or more first stage H-antigen (H-ag) primer sets operable to produce an H-ag amplification product of H-ag target sequence; each of said first stage primer sets comprising a forward primer that hybridizes to a region flanking a respective target sequence under conditions suitable for a polymerase chain reaction, and a reverse primer that hybridizes to a different region of the target sequence under conditions suitable for a polymerase chain reaction; and detecting the presence or absence of each of said amplification products by hybridization to a labeled probe specific to said O-grp-1 amplification product or said H-ag amplification product, or both a labeled probe specific to said O-grp-1 amplification product and a labeled probe specific to said H-ag amplification product, wherein said first stage H-ag primer sets comprise primers SEQ ID NOs: 22, 23, 24, 25, 26, 27, 28, 29, 30, 83, 84, 85, 93, 94, 95, 96, 107, 109, 111, 113, 115, 31, 32, 33, 34, 35, 36, 37, 38, 39, 40, and 41. |
