1. A method of producing three-dimensional objects, layer by layer, by solidifying a powdery material, comprising the steps of:
solidifying a powdery material within a vacuum chamber by irradiating the powdery material with a high-energy beam and generating charged particles of the powder, introducing a supplementary inert gas into the vacuum chamber, and controlling the pressure of the inert gas to a predefined pressure level, and producing a predefined amount of ions of the inert gas when the powder is irradiated by the high-energy beam.
