[Class 122 (i)] [See also Group XXXII] In a vibration-damper for shafts, particularly for the crankshafts of internal-combustion engines, in which a mass is resiliently connected with the shaft, the connecting members consist of transversely-stressed sleeve springs each formed of resilient, slotted, telescoping sleeves enclosing a solid cylindrical core against which the spring bears according to the load. The mass 4 is mounted concentrically on a plate 3 fixed to the crankshaft 1, the springs 6 being fitted in co-operating recesses 5 in the plate and mass. The cores 7 have ribs 13 which project through the slots in the springs and engage grooves 14 in the plate to prevent rotation of the springs, lateral displacement of which is prevented by side-plates 8, 9 secured to the plate 3. Conduits 11 connect the recesses 5 with a lubricating pipe 12 inside the shaft 1. |
