The present invention relates to a character input method using a touchscreen and a terminal employing the method. The terminal includes the touchscreen, an input sensing unit, and a control unit. A screen display unit in the touchscreen includes key buttons having partial characters arranged to correspond to a user′s operation on a soft keyboard. The input sensing unit senses the user′s touch operation, basic slip operation, and continuous slip operation to transmit the sensed operations to the control unit. The control unit controls the terminal to select and input the characters corresponding to the sensed touch operation, basic slip operation, and continuous slip operation. The present invention enables characters to be input by using a small area on the terminal, implements a wide view on the screen, and enables the user to input characters without seeing the characters arranged on key buttons. |
