The device has a purging air circuit (17) including a collector (21) adapted for distributing air into a combustion chamber (7). A regulating unit i.e. main valve (19), regulates air pressure in the purging air circuit. An electronic control unit (26) expands purging time by regulating the pressure and flow of air into the purging air circuit according to operation mode of a gas turbine (1). A control unit controls opening of the regulating unit and another regulating unit i.e. depression valve (20), depending on the pressure measured in the purging air circuit and in the chamber. An independent claim is also included for a method for purging a liquid fuel injection system in a gas turbine.
