The present invention relates to a variable valve timing device configured to minimize damage of an auxiliary flange and an actuator housing due to a repetitive ascent and descent movement of the auxiliary flange, as well as smoothly controlling an opening and closing timing of an intake and exhaust valve. According to the present invention, the variable valve timing device comprises: an actuator housing to supply a constant space inside; a top flange installed in an upper part of the actuator housing capable of ascending; a bottom flange installed in a lower part of the actuator housing capable of ascending to the top flange; an oil chamber installed to circulate or interrupt oil by corresponding to an ascent operation of the top flange; and a communicating flow path unit to allow an upper end and a lower end of the oil chamber to communicate by corresponding to the ascent operation of the bottom flange, wherein the auxiliary flange to form an oil receiving unit on the lower part of the top flange is controlled to be operated depending on the operation of an air piston installed in one side of the actuator housing.
