A mobile terminal and a method for controlling the same are disclosed. The mobile terminal according to one embodiment of the present invention comprises: a display unit which outputs a touch area to input identification information related to an external device to be connected to a main body of the terminal; a wireless communications unit which performs low power wireless communications (BLE) to recognize the external device corresponding to the identification information based on the identification information inputted to the touch area; and a control unit which connects the external device corresponding to the identification information and the main body through first wireless communications when the external device corresponding to the identification information exists within a predetermined range based on the main body according to a low power wireless communications result. When the main body enters to a slip mode after connecting the main body and the external device corresponding to the identification information through the first wireless communications, the control unit controls the connection between the main body and the external device corresponding to the identification information to be maintained through the low power wireless communications (BLE). |
