PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide diarylhydantoin compounds as androgen receptor modulators.SOLUTION: The present invention provides a series of compounds having strong antagonistic activities with minimal agonistic activities against androgen receptor (AR). These compounds inhibit growth of hormone refractory prostate cancer. The present invention relates to diarylhydantoin compounds, where Ris selected from the group consisting of hydrogen, cyano and formyl and Rand Rtogether comprise eight or fewer carbon atoms and are selected from the group consisting of an alkyl, a substituted alkyl, or, together with the carbon to which they are linked, a cycloalkyl or substituted cycloalkyl group. The present invention also relates to methods for synthesizing the diarylhydantoin compounds, and methods for using them in treatment of hormone refractory prostate cancer. |
