Method, device and system to support the creation of vehicle platoons in a set of vehicles, which comprises receiving information indicating a position for the respective vehicles in the set of vehicles, categorising the vehicles in the set into different categories based on a grouping for the respective vehicles, wherein the grouping indicates whether the vehicle is a single vehicle or already belongs to a vehicle platoon, determining a distance between at least two groupings, determining a profitability parameter β, which indicates whether it is profitable to form a vehicle platoon with the two groupings, based at least on the distance between the two groupings, analysing whether the profitability parameter β fulfils a profitability criterion, and generating a vehicle platoon signal φ based on the result of the analysis. |
