An apparatus for hanging an article from a door. In one aspect, the inventive apparatus can comprise a mounting system that can be used to hang a mirror, piece of art, or other flat article to a door without the need for a screw driver or any other tools.

1. An over-the-door hanging apparatus comprising:
a frame comprising a rear surface; a first mounting plate and a second mounting plate, the first and second mounting plates secured to the rear surface of the frame on opposite sides of a vertical centerline of the mirror apparatus; the first mounting plate comprising:
a first raised portion comprising a multi-width aperture having a nesting section;a second raised portion comprising a first aperture having a top edge; the second mounting plate comprising:
a first raised portion comprising a multi-width aperture having a nesting section;a second raised portion comprising a first aperture having a top edge; a bracket assembly comprising:
a first hook;a second hook;at least one bracket configured to slidably engage a top edge of a door; first and second fasteners configured to be mounted to a vertical surface, each of the first and second fasteners comprising a post portion and a flange portion;wherein the frame can be: (1) slidably mounted to the bracket assembly by at least slidable mating between the top edge of the first aperture of the first mounting plate and the first hook of the bracket assembly, and slidable mating between the top edge of the first aperture of the second mounting plate and the second hook of the bracket assembly; and (2) slidably mounted to the first and second fasteners by at least slidable mating between the post portion of the first fastener and the receiving section of the first multi-width aperture of the first mounting plate, and slidable mating between the post portion of the second fastener and the receiving section of the first multi-width aperture of the second mounting plate.
