PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a method for detecting a single nucleotide polymorphism involved in the progress of glaucoma to predict a progress risk of glaucoma, and a kit used in the detecting method.SOLUTION: A method for determining the presence or absence of a glaucoma risk includes a process (a process A) for detecting in vitro an allele and/or a genotype of a single nucleotide polymorphism which is present on a 31st base of each base sequence in at least one base sequence or its complementary sequence selected from a group consisting of base sequences shown by a specific sequence in a sample derived from a subject, and a process (a process B) for comparing the allele and/or the genotype detected in the process A with at least one of an allele and/or a genotype including a high-risk allele in a base sequences shown by a specific sequence. The presence of the glaucoma risk is determined based on the allele and/or the genotype detected in the process A.
