PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a device and method for limiting traumas and for monitoring and tracking structural fatigue in clamping members and identifying proper staple filing in a simple and reliable manner.SOLUTION: A surgical device includes a first clamping member, a second clamping member, and an electric motor configured to drive at least one of the first and second clamping members toward a predetermined tissue gap between the clamping members. The device also includes a control system to monitor a parameter of the electric motor indicative of a clamping force exerted to the tissue by the clamping members and to control the electric motor, based on the monitored parameter, to limit the clamping force to a predetermined maximum limit. |
