PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a stable production method of silver nanowires which are thin and long, and suitable for manufacturing a transparent conductor, and effective silver nanowires having improved dispersion stability in a liquid medium.SOLUTION: A production method of silver nanowires comprises reducing and precipitating silver in the form of wires in an alcohol solvent in which a silver compound is dissolved. In the production method of silver nanowire, precipitation is carried out in an alcohol solvent in which a chloride, a bromide, an alkali metal hydroxide, an aluminum salt, and an organic protection agent are dissolved; a molar ratio Al/OH of a total Al amount of the aluminum salt to be dissolved in the solvent to a total amount of hydroxide ions in the alkali metal hydroxide to be dissolved in the solvent is set to 0.01 to 0.40; and a molar ratio OH/Ag of the total amount of hydroxide ions in the alkali metal hydroxide to be dissolved in the solvent to the total Ag amount of the silver compound to be dissolved in the solvent is set to 0.005 to 0.50. The silver nanowires have an average diameter of 50 nm or less, an average length of 10 μm or more, and their average aspect ratio is 250 or more. The organic protection agent is a polyvinyl pyrrolidone-based polymer. |
