The present invention pertains to a method for preparing a fatty acid alkyl ester from a sample containing a glycerin fatty acid ester, wherein the method is characterized in including the following steps: a step for dissolving the glycerin fatty acid ester in a solution containing a hydrophobic solvent and an amphiphilic organic solvent miscible with both this hydrophobic solvent and water; and a step for reacting the glycerin fatty acid ester with a C1-4 alcohol solvent and a C1-4 alkoxide ion to produce a fatty acid alkyl ester. The present invention further pertains to a kit for this purpose. The present invention also pertains to a method for analyzing the fatty acid composition of a glycerin fatty acid ester in a sample.
