A laser beam machine (100) that performs a copying control such that the relative distance between a workpiece (7) and a nozzle (10) attached to a head (3) becomes a set value, said machine characterized by comprising: a plurality of distance sensors, which have different detection ranges in which the workpiece (7) is detected, and the output of each of which changes depending on the distance between the workpiece (7) and the nozzle (10) based on detection of the workpiece (7); a drive means that changes the position of the head (3) in the direction in which the distance between the workpiece (7) and the nozzle (10) changes; and a control device (1) that controls the drive means according to the output of the distance sensors and performs the copying control. Said machine is further characterized in that the control device (1) changes a condition for the copying control according to the output of one sensor having a wide detection range among the distance sensors, and performs the copying control on the basis of the changed condition according to the output of one sensor having a narrow detection range among the distance sensors.
