The invention relates to a method (21) for producing a self-lubricating composite material, wherein a powdery primary metal material is mixed with a likewise powdery secondary material, and the mixture (3) is subjected to a hot-isostatic pressing process (28). In order to do so, the mixture of the primary material and secondary material is filled into a shaping mold, and the mold is evacuated, whereupon the actual hot-isostatic pressing process is carried out. This makes it possible to obtain a substantially compact desired material.
