PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide methods of preparation and use of microspheres for embolization, for chemoembolization for hypervascular tumors, e.g., colorectal metastases of the liver.SOLUTION: Microspheres are formed of water-insoluble water-swellable anionic polymer having a swollen diameter of 100 μm or more, and a cationic camptothecin compound, being irinotecan. The microspheres are formed of crosslinked polyvinylalcohol, being ethylenically unsaturated polyvinylalcohol macromer crosslinked with ethylenically unsaturated anionic comonomer. |
