A method for configuring a backlight light emitting element that is provided with at least one lens on which photons discharged from a semiconductor light emitting element are incident and a phosphor-containing lens containing quantum dot phosphor particles, wherein a white light source is configured such that the convergence point of photons incident on and transmitted through the lens is within the phosphor-containing lens, so that the backlight light emitting element is excellent in terms of the emission performance of the phosphor particles, emission life and light utilization efficiency. A backlight light emitting element which is provided with: at least one lens on which photons (300) discharged from an LED light emitting element (5) are incident; and a phosphor-containing lens (22) on which the photons (300) incident on and transmitted through the lens are incident. The phosphor-containing lens (22) is arranged such that the convergence point (P) of the photons (300) incident on and transmitted through the lens is within the phosphor-containing lens (22). The phosphor particles are quantum dot phosphor particles (101) of at least one kind having a diameter of 50 nm or less. |
