<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a method of producing a honeycomb structure including a plurality of honeycomb units of improved dimensional stability relative to that of a prior art honeycomb unit. <P>SOLUTION: The method of producing a honeycomb structure including a plurality of honeycomb units each constituted of a plurality of cells that contain inorganic particles, are each divided by a cell wall, and extend from a first end face to a second end face of the honeycomb structure in the longitudinal direction thereof, with the inorganic particles having a specific surface area of at least 50 m<SP POS="POST">2</SP>/g, is characterized by comprising (a) a process of impregnating the inorganic particles with water, (b) a process of preparing raw material paste containing at least the inorganic particles impregnated with water, a molding aid, and water, for use in producing a honeycomb unit, (c) a process of molding the raw material paste into a honeycomb molding, and (d) a process of firing the honeycomb molding to produce a honeycomb unit. <P>COPYRIGHT: (C)2012,JPO&INPIT |
