<p><P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To improve the reliability, capacity efficiency and convenience of data. <P>SOLUTION: A data recording and reproduction device reads a second error correction code and performs error correction by the second error correction code when error uncorrectability occurs in error correction by a first error correction code. Since error correction by the second error correction code can be performed even though error correction by the first error correction code becomes uncorrectable, data reliability can be improved.
