418,572. Measuring degree of lubrication of threads. CHATILLON SOC. ANON. ITALIANA PER LE FIBRE TESSILI ARTIFICIALI, 13, Via Conservatorio, Milan, Italy. June 6, 1934, No. 16845. Convention date, June 10, 1933. [Class 120 (iii).] Apparatus for comparing and measuring the degree of lubrication of threads or filaments comprises an arm 1 pivoted on an axis passing through its centre of gravity, provided at its lower end with a reed 8, 8<a>, through which the yarn passes as it is unwound from the drum 13 and wound up on the drum 15 driven by a motor 16, and a spring connected to the arm and to the lever 7, the position of which is adjustable, so that a torque can be applied to the arm equal and opposite to that due to the friction of the thread on the reed, whereby the arm is brought back to its normal position ; a pointer 17 and scale 18 are provided whereby this torque may be measured, and hence the lubricating value of the lubricant used on the thread. The reed comprises two series of metal leaves 8, 8<a> of which the upper leaves are rotatably mounted, to facilitate the introduction of the thread. The lower end of the arm 1 may dip in a trough 10 containing oil, which acts as a damping device. |
