<p><P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a means for efficiently amplifying hematopoietic stem cells and/or hematopoietic precursor cells, in particular, human hematopoietic stem cells and/or hematopoietic precursor cells. <P>SOLUTION: This method for amplifying hematopoietic cells and/or hematopoietic precursor cells is characterized by expressing a gene encoding a transcription factor Sox17.
