[Classes 82 (ii) and 117] A machine for washing gravel or the like comprises a rotary washing drum 1, two screens 2, 3 of circular cross-section at the entry end of the drum, one of said screens, 2, being coarser than and arranged within the other, 3, the latter delivering such material as is received from the former and does not pass through the perforations to the washing drum 1, and a rinsing drum 4 at the discharge end of the washing drum, which rinsing drum effects a final cleansing of the washed material before discharging it, said screens and drums being rotatable en bloc. The screens 2, 3 taper in opposite directions and the screen 3 and drum 4 comprise apertures covered by detachable screens proper 9, 10. Lifting scoops 12, 13, 14 are provided in the screen 3, washing drum 1 and rinsing drum 4, the latter also comprising a delivery duct 17 and the drum 1 being provided with conveying vanes. Water is supplied with the gravel to the screen 2, additional water being supplied to the drum 1 by an axially arranged nozzle and to the drum 4 through a branch nozzle. |
