The present invention relates to an apparatus and a method for information search, which allows a user to directly select a search classification (a search type) when inputting a search keyword and displays the number of attachment files attached to a blog, thereby providing the accuracy and convenience of search. The apparatus of the present invention comprises: a search keyword input unit receiving an inputted keyword; a keyword auto-complete window generating unit generating a keyword auto-complete window when the keyword is being inputted; a search type selecting unit selecting a search type displayed in the keyword auto-complete window; a search unit recommending similar keywords by using an auto-complete technique when the keyword is being inputted and performing information search according to the keyword or the similar keyword to apply the search type to information search results, thereby optimizing the information search results; and a search result display unit displaying the information search results optimized by the search unit on a screen.
