An electric pump device (1) comprises an electric motor (2) having a disk-type commutator (12) and a brush holder (7) in which a brush storage part (9) for holding a brush (10) is formed and a fuel pump (3) rotatingly driven by the electric motor (2).  The inner wall (26) of the brush storage part (9) is tapered.  When the electric motor (2) is operated, an opening edge (28) is brought into contact with the rear end surface (10a) of the brush (10) in the rotating direction, and the contact point serves as the fulcrum of the brush (10).  Since the fulcrum of the brush (10) is close to the commutator (12), a moment Mf by a brush pressing force Fc is reduced.  Consequently, the brush (10) is hard to tilt even if a high viscosity fuel is used.
