An image forming system includes an image forming device and an option device which includes a setting unit including a setting port and an I/O port which are connected to the image forming device to set values. The setting unit transmits a response signal to the image forming device based on the comparison result of a value of a signal set in the setting port with a value of first data received from the image forming device. The image forming device transmits the identification data of the option device in response to the response signal. The setting unit sets the value of the I/O port based on the identification data. |
