The present invention relates to a method for manufacturing an adsorbent from fiber waste and the adsorbent manufactured thereby. More specifically, the method for manufacturing an adsorbent from fiber waste is capable of manufacturing an adsorbent with excellent adsorptivity and at low costs by modifying and cross-linking the fiber waste. As the adsorbent in accordance with the present invention costs little, material for the adsorbent can be manufactured at low costs by using cellulose-based fiber waste as a raw material. Since the present invention is a fiber type adsorptive material, the rate of adsorption is very fast, and the durability is excellent due to the characteristics of fiber, thus it can be easily applied to processes with various conditions.
