The present invention is to provide a method and an apparatus which identify similar contents similar to updated contents which are not viewed by a user, update use information of contents on the basis of similarities between the updated contents and the similar contents, and calculate preference of a user for the updated contents. The updated contents corresponding to the preference of a user or information related to the updated contents may be provided to the user according to the preference of the user for the calculated updated contents.
