摘要 <p>A novel process for obtaining engineered pericardium and derivatives for uses in Medicine, Pharmaceuticals, Food and Cosmetics. Initially, pericardium can be harvested from a mammalian source in order thereby treat it with sodium deoxycholate or related salt of cholic acid to obtain 100% decellularization without damaging the basic collagen architecture. Further, DNAse and RNAse treatment can be given for 8-20 hours in the presence or absence of shaking. Next, the decellularized pericardium is strengthened by the use of non-glutaraldehyde cross-linking agents. A coating of biodegradable electro-spun biocompatible polymer nano-fibre can be used according to its usage before cross-linking. Finally, the engineered pericardium can be preserved in a solution of 50-90% ethanol. The container used for storage can be made up glass or any other related material.</p>
