A system that incorporates teachings of the present disclosure may include, for example, a device having a controller programmed to detect an object within an image of a first occurrence of a repetitive portion of a video program. The object is modified based on instructions, resulting in an updated object, and another portion of the image of the repetitive portion is left unmodified, resulting in a first modified repetitive portion of the video program. The object is detected within an image of subsequent instances of the repetitive portion of the video program and modified each time differently from the updated object and from subsequent modifications of the object, while maintaining the another portion of the image unmodified. a memory that stores executable instructions; and a controller comprising a processor coupled to the memory, wherein the processor, responsive to executing the instructions facilitates performance of operations comprising:
detecting an object within a first occurrence of a repetitive portion of a video program that includes a sequence of images;modifying the object based on instructions resulting in an updated object, while leaving another portion of the repetitive portion unmodified, resulting in a first modified repetitive portion of the video program; anddetecting the object within subsequent occurrences of the repetitive portion of the video program and modifying the object each time differently from the updated object and from subsequent modifications of the object, while maintaining the another portion of the repetitive portion unmodified.
