1. A lightweight, disposable scalpel blade support assembly, comprising:
an elongated, generally cylindrical handle portion defining a first major axis and having a proximal end and an oppositely disposed distal end; and a scalpel blade guard portion extending from the distal end; wherein the elongated, generally cylindrical handle portion has flat bottom side extending parallel to the major axis; wherein the scalpel blade guard portion further comprises:
a pair of elongated elastically flexible members extending parallel to the first major axis; anda bridge member extending perpendicularly between and connecting the pair of elongated elastically flexible members.
