PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an exercise therapy apparatus that can control an exercise load more properly so that an exerciser is not overloaded, even if a response time constant of exercise physiological response such as a heart rate or a pulse rate of an exerciser is different from the exerciser.SOLUTION: An exercise therapy apparatus includes a calculation control unit configured by: setting a target value of exercise physiological response and a response time constant of the exercise physiological response of an exerciser in a memory unit of the exercise therapy apparatus according to an input operation by the exerciser; calculating a primary delay waveform of a waveform of the target value of the exercise physiological response as an exercise physiological response target value after the correction by using the response time constant; calculating a difference between the target value of the exercise physiological response and the measured value of the exercise physiological response as an exercise physiological response deviation before the correction; calculating a difference between the exercise physiological response target value after the correction and the measured value of the exercise physiological response as the exercise physiological response deviation after the correction; generating a command value of an exercise load so that the exercise physiological response of the exerciser approaches the exercise physiological response target value after the correction, based on the exercise physiological response deviation after the correction; and thereby controlling the exercise load to the exerciser.
