PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a method of manufacturing a rotor coil that can secure desired mechanical strength while suppressing occurrence of defects or deformation.SOLUTION: A method of manufacturing a rotor coil has a contact step and a first joint step. In the contact step, the end portions of an element wire strand and a reinforcing member for reinforcing the element wire strand are brought into contact with each other. In the first joint step, a rotating tool is made to penetrate from a first outer surface side of the boundary portion between the element wire strand and the reinforcing member which are brought into contact with each other at the end portions thereof, and slide along the interface of the boundary portion. The arrangement relationship of the element wire strand and the reinforcing member which are brought into contact with each other in the contact step is set so that the longitudinal direction of the element wire strand body is perpendicular to the interface of the boundary portion between the element wire strand and the reinforcing member. The individual element wires constituting the element wire strand are bundled in a state that the longitudinal direction of each element wire is inclined with respect to the longitudinal direction of the element wire strand body when viewed from the first outer surface side.
