The invention relates to the field of utilizing non-traditional sources of fresh water, specifically meltwater from the ice of icebergs, and relates to a way of delivering icebergs for producing drinking water. In order to pack and transport an iceberg, a visual inspection of a body of water is carried out, and an iceberg is selected and inspected. The temperature of the iceberg is controlled by packing same into a two-layer flexible casing, the upper layer of the above-water portion of which is provided with hollow channels which permit the closed recirculation of a cooling agent. The iceberg is pre-divided into measured portions in order to produce an ice block of given dimensions and shape. Transportation is carried out by means of a motorized towing unit, which is operatively coupled to the iceberg block. Hydrogen generated from the meltwater of the iceberg is used as fuel. The result is more efficient control of the temperature of the ice of an iceberg, a more efficient packing process, increased transportation safety, reliability, speed and cost effectiveness, and environmental safety. |
