A transmission brake device comprises: a friction plate set in which a plurality of rotation-side friction plates and a plurality of stationary-side friction plates are alternately disposed, said plurality of rotation-side friction plates being engaged with a prescribed rotary member so as to be displaceable in the axial direction thereof, and said plurality of stationary-side friction plates being engaged with a transmission case so as to be displaceable in the axial direction; a fastening piston that is disposed on one side of the friction plate set in the axial direction; a clearance adjustment piston that is disposed on the side of the fastening piston away from the friction plate set and that is for adjusting the clutch clearance by moving the fastening piston toward the friction plate set side; a clearance adjustment hydraulic chamber that moves the clearance adjustment piston toward the friction plate set side when hydraulic pressure is supplied; and a fastening hydraulic chamber that moves the fastening piston toward the friction plate side when hydraulic pressure is supplied. The transmission brake device is provided with biasing members, each being disposed between adjacent stationary-side friction plates and biasing the adjacent stationary-side friction plates in a separating direction. The biasing members are disposed so that the clutch clearance is dispersed between adjacent stationary-side plates when hydraulic pressure is supplied only to the clearance adjustment hydraulic chamber from among the clearance adjustment hydraulic chamber and the fastening hydraulic chamber. |
