The present invention relates to a method for screening a candidate material for a treating agent for erectile dysfunction, which includes a step for measuring activation-inhibition of transient receptor potential cation channel 4 (TRPC4), and also relates to a pharmaceutical composition for treating erectile dysfunction, containing a TRPC4 inhibitor as an active ingredient. The present invention ensures to effectively screen the candidate material of the treating agent for erectile dysfunction, by using a method for measuring the activity of TRPC4. In addition, an activity inhibitor of TRPC4 is very effective for relieving symptoms of erectile dysfunction, thereby being able to be developed into the treating agent for erectile dysfunction.
