PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a method for easily evaluating the susceptibility to coloring of phenol in a short time, and to provide a method for stably and efficiently preparing phenol which is hardly colored by adjusting the preparation conditions of the phenol according to the evaluation result.SOLUTION: The evaluation method of phenol color tone evaluates the color tone after the phenol is solidified and subsequently melted. The solidification and melting of the phenol are preferably carried out twice or more respectively. The preparation conditions of the phenol are changed according to the evaluation result of the phenol color tone.
