The present invention provides a method and a device of manufacturing a glass substrate, capable of reducing an aggregation of a volatile material of a platinum group metal. The method comprises: a dissolution process of generating molten glass by melting a raw material of glass; a treating process of treating the molten glass in a molten glass treating device. The molten glass treating device has: a liquid including the molten glass; and a vapor space surrounded by a liquid surface of the liquid and an inner wall. Furthermore, at least a part of the inner wall touching the vapor space of the molten glass treating device is configured with a material including the platinum group metal. In the treating process, an inert gas to the molten glass and the platinum group metal is supplied to the vapor space, and the inert gas adjusted to a temperature, where the aggregation of the platinum group metal existed in the vapor space is reduced, is supplied to the vapor space. |
