The present invention relates to a rodent repellent composition comprising an Illicium verum Hook extract as an active ingredient. The rodent repellent composition of the present invention represents excellent rodent repellent activity in comparison with oil extracted from other natural substances. In addition, the rodent repellent composition of the present invention using an Illicium verum Hook extract which is a natural plant material as an active ingredient, can reduce a problem of environmental pollution and risk of death of other animals, in the case of using the conventional synthetic compound as a repellent agent. Accordingly, the composition of the present invention can be developed as a novel repellent agent with respect to rodents which can be a cause of spreading infectious diseases, polluting foods, and inhibiting growth of crops and fruits.
