An edible animal chew comprising a starch content of 50 to 75 wt% relative to the total weight of the chew; a humectant content of 10 to 20 wt% relative to the total weight of the chew; and a density of 1.0 g cm- or less, and preferably wherein the chew exhibits a texture profile analysis cohesiveness of 0.55 or greater.
