[Class 28(i)] A toasting or grilling device is positioned in front of gas or other fire and comprises two vertical heat reflecting faces a arranged at an angle to one another, and a food - holding cage e arranged between the faces a which are spaced sufficiently at the rear to permit the food to be inserted in or withdrawn from the cage e. The cage e has a lower food support g slidable through guides h to facilitate the insertion or removal of the food. Alternatively, the food may be suspended from hooks mounted on a slide at the top of the device, the slide being withdrawable through the back. The front of the cage is protected from direct heat by a metal plate f. The device is supported from the hearth by legs j, adjustably secured in holes n. The front of the device would normally rest on the shelf usually provided at the front of the gas fire. The bottom of the device is closed by a plate c and the top plated is apertured at u for the escape of steam &c. The bottom plate c may be rectangular and provided with two legs which are pivoted to the plate c and intersect, each leg being provided with a longitudinal slot about the centre to accommodate the connecting bolt. The reflecting surfaces may be heat insulated by outside enamelled metal plates, with, if desired, an interposed layer of asbestos.</p> |
